Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellation Depends on Project Status

BCI's cancellation and refund rules are designed around a clear distinction between a request that has not yet reached Project Start and an engagement where research has already begun.

1. Overview

A Defined Point Between Request and Active Work

Beaty Corporate Intelligence (BCI) uses Project Start as the formal point at which an accepted research assignment begins.

Project Start occurs only after the applicable scope has been accepted, required payment has been received, necessary client information is available, and BCI confirms that the assignment is ready to begin.

Cancellation and refund treatment therefore depends primarily on whether Project Start has occurred.

2. Cancellation Before Project Start

Full Refund Before Research Begins

If a client cancels a one-time research engagement before Project Start, the applicable project payment is generally refundable in full.

This applies because research has not yet begun under the accepted engagement.

A cancellation request received before Project Start should identify the client, the company or assignment involved, and the applicable project or payment reference when available.

3. Cancellation After Project Start

Refunds Reflect Work Already Performed

Once Project Start has occurred, BCI may already have performed research, analysis, source review, report development, or other work associated with the engagement.

If a client cancels after Project Start, any refund will depend on the work already performed and the circumstances of the engagement.

BCI may retain the portion of the project payment reasonably attributable to completed work and refund any remaining amount when appropriate.

4. Scope Changes

Additional Work Is Not Added Without Approval

BCI does not materially expand an accepted engagement or add additional charges without client authorization.

If research identifies an issue requiring substantially deeper work, BCI may identify it as an information gap or recommend follow-on due diligence rather than automatically continuing beyond the accepted scope.

A separately authorized follow-on assignment is treated as a separate engagement for cancellation and refund purposes unless otherwise agreed.

5. Assignments BCI Does Not Accept

No Charge for Declined Work

If BCI declines an assignment before Project Start, the client will not be charged for that assignment.

If a project payment was received before BCI determines that the assignment cannot be accepted, that pre-start project payment will be refunded.

BCI may decline an assignment because of scope, subject matter, timing, research requirements, operating constraints, or other reasons that make the request unsuitable for acceptance.

6. Company Monitoring

Cancellation Stops Future Renewals

Company Monitoring is a recurring service activated only after the monitoring scope and required baseline have been approved.

A client may cancel Company Monitoring to stop future recurring renewals.

Unless otherwise agreed, the current paid monitoring period ordinarily continues through its scheduled end and is not prorated solely because the client elects to stop future renewal.

Cancellation of Company Monitoring does not automatically cancel or refund any separate one-time research engagement.

7. Refund Processing

Refunds Are Returned Through the Applicable Payment Method

Approved refunds will ordinarily be processed through the payment method or payment provider associated with the original transaction.

The time required for an approved refund to appear in a client's account may depend on the payment provider, financial institution, and payment method.

BCI does not control processing delays imposed by third-party payment providers or financial institutions.

8. Third-Party Costs

Separately Approved External Costs

BCI does not incur separately chargeable third-party costs on behalf of a client without prior client approval.

If an approved third-party cost has already been incurred and is not recoverable from the third party, that amount may not be refundable.

Any such cost should be identified separately from BCI's research fee when applicable.

9. Research Results

Refunds Are Not Based on Whether a Particular Finding Appears

BCI provides a defined public-source research and analytical process. It does not guarantee that an engagement will uncover adverse information, confirm a client concern, or produce any particular finding.

A report that identifies limited adverse information, favorable indicators, mixed evidence, or unresolved information gaps is not incomplete merely because it does not produce a specific result the client expected.

Refund eligibility therefore is not based solely on whether the research produces a particular conclusion or outcome.

10. Client-Caused Delay

Turnaround Depends on Required Information Being Available

Published turnaround begins at Project Start and assumes that BCI has the information reasonably necessary to perform the accepted engagement.

If a client delays providing information that is reasonably necessary to continue the work, the anticipated delivery timing may need to be adjusted.

Such a delay does not automatically create a right to a refund for work already performed.

11. Requesting Cancellation

Contact BCI Promptly

A client wishing to cancel a research engagement or Company Monitoring should contact BCI as soon as reasonably possible.

The cancellation request should provide enough information to identify the applicable engagement or monitoring subscription.

The effective cancellation status will be determined based on the engagement status, including whether Project Start has occurred and, for Company Monitoring, whether another renewal has already been processed.

12. Changes to This Policy

Current Policy Applies to New Engagements

BCI may revise this Cancellation & Refund Policy as its services, payment arrangements, operating practices, or legal requirements change.

The current version published on the BCI website will identify its most recent update date.

Material cancellation or refund terms applicable to an already accepted engagement will not be changed retroactively without appropriate notice or agreement.
